   An act relating to Admission Day, making an appropriation
therefor, and declaring the urgency thereof, to take effect
immediately.



	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 1068, Ducheny.  Department of Parks and Recreation:  Admission
Day.
   There is in the state government a Department of Parks and
Recreation with specified duties.
   This bill would appropriate $895,000 from the General Fund to the
department for costs associated with the celebration of Admission
Day.
   The bill would declare that it would take effect immediately as an
urgency statute.
   Appropriation:  yes.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:


  SECTION 1.  The sum of eight hundred ninety-five thousand dollars
($895,000) is hereby appropriated from the General Fund to the
Department of Parks and Recreation, in augmentation of Item
3790-001-0001 of Section 2.00 of the Budget Act of 2000 (Ch. 52,
Stats. 2000), for costs associated with the celebration of Admission
Day.
  SEC. 2.  This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the
meaning of Article IV of the Constitution and shall go into immediate
effect.  The facts constituting the necessity are:
   In order to make an appropriation that amends and supplements the
Budget Act of 2000 (Ch. 52, Stats. 2000) effective as soon as
possible, it is necessary that this act go into immediate effect.
